About Us
The Connecting Ottawa project is funded as an Access to Justice initiative of the Law Foundation of Ontario.
Our mandate is to improve access to justice for linguistic minorities and those who have communication barriers in Ottawa by working with front-line community workers to develop their capacity to provide appropriate legal information and referrals for clients within these target populations.
We engage with a partnership network of over 50 community, legal, immigration, disability, and social services agencies who work with and address the compounded barriers faced by these individuals.
We provide case management support, legal and community informational referrals and coordination, a website directory of legal, social and communication services, public and staff legal education and workshops, and support to these agencies and their front-line personnel. We also seek opportunities to coordinate legal and community services to ensure that the access to justice needs of clients are addressed. We do not provide legal services direct to clients.
