Description (Service) | COVID-19 (23 Mar 2020): Due to COVID19, all CNIB in-person and drop-in programs are suspended until further notice, with the exception of intervention services responding to essential needs: support for medical reasons, pharmacy pick ups and grocery shopping. Increased contact via preferred technology rather than in-person.Intervenor services for adults who are Deafblind * provide the person who is Deafblind with accurate information in an appropriate manner to enable them to make choices, plan future actions, communicate successfully, navigate their environment and achieve as much independence as possibleCan be used to assist adults who are Deafblind with:* communications to access services (such as going to the bank or shopping) or to participate in the community (such as going to the library or taking part in a community group)* accessing and sharing accurate information during important meetings (such as medical appointments or meeting with a lawyer) to support informed decision making* learning how to use community services, such as public transportation, more independently* conducting daily activitiesEmergency intervenor service: program that allows CNIB's DeafBlind clients to contact an intervenor if they are in an emergency situation * Emergency Communication Kits containing items to assist a person who is Deafblind and allow the first responder/hospital staff to communicate until an intervenor arrives |

Eligibility |
Individuals 18 years and older who are Deafblind * Deafblindess is a combined loss of hearing and vision to such an extent that neither the hearing nor vision can be used as a means of accessing information to participate and be included in the community Age Requirements: Ages: 18 year(s) and up; |
