Description (Service) Supports internationally educated professionals to obtain employment in their field
  • clients are matched with a volunteer with work experience in the same or a related field
  • mentorship is also offered between participants and public service employees
One-hour weekly meetings about:
  • canadian workplace culture
  • career objectives
  • employment strategies
  • cover letter and resume fine tuning
  • interview skills
  • career mentors receive training
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Eligibility
    Participants:
  • landed immigrants or Convention refugees
  • internationally educated
  • language assessment level 6 or higher
  • Ontario resident
  • employment ready

  • Mentors:
  • at least two years of work experience in Ottawa and contacts in employment and professional networks
  • commitment: at least three months, one hour a week
  • sensitivity to employment and cultural transition experiences
