Description and Services
Description (Service) Short-term structured program consisting of a 7-bed centre
  • for males who have been detained by a court order or ordered to serve a disposition of open custody and open detention
  • open residence
  • Open Custody Facility, for youth ordered to serve a disposition under the Youth Criminal Justice Act
  • Place of Detention, for youth temporarily detained by the court for pre-trial detention
Case management plan is developed for each youth, and includes:
  • regular schooling within the unit
  • social skills and arts program
  • faith program
  • anger management
  • cognitive self-change
  • cognitive-based life skills program
Youth also participate in a social skills and life skills programming which includes sessions on various subjects such as:
  • addictions
  • sexuality
  • self-esteem
  • anger management
  • job search
  • financial literacy
  • goal setting
  • problem solving
Hours Mon-Sun 24 hours
Eligibility Males age 12 to 17 years old (at the time of offense) who are in open - rather than secure - custody
Languages English, French
Application Youth are referred to the unit by the courts, probation officers, the police or other detention/custody facilities
