Description (Service)

Services for women (cis or trans) who are experiencing or have experienced intimate partner violence (including physical, emotional, financial, and sexual violence):

Support Groups:

  • provides support and connection with other women, information and education around healthy relationships and the impact of abuse on women and children, as well as safety planning and sharing resourcesIndividual counselling offered in-person, or by video
  • in-person groups offered 2-3 times a year

Individual Counselling:

  • Individual counselling offered in-person, or by video
  • offers safety planning, emotional support, and counselling to help women make sense of confusing feelings, heal from the impacts of abuse and learn about their rights and the options available to them. Counsellors can help people access practical supports like housing, family law, and income support, and help survivors make a plan for next steps.

Transitional Support Program (must be referred internally by a counsellor in the AV program):

  • offers practical assistance with housing applications and accessing eligibility for financial assistance
  • referral to shelters, lawyersss and other services
  • court support
  • accompaniment to legal, medical and other appointments


Programs for Child Witnesses Woman Abuse:

  • individual counselling can be provided as needed for children aged 6-16
  • parenting support for women

The Children's Groups:

  • offered for children aged 6-12 who have witnessed abuse of their mother/violence in the home
  • 6-8 children per group
  • usually offered during evenings during the week
  • offered concurrently as a group for mothers whose children are in the program

Eligibility Women (cis or trans) 18 years and older and children who are survivors or witnesses of abuse

Application Referrals accepted from survivors, family doctors, lawyers, police officers, or other community supports * self-referral welcome * to access services, call Intake at the extension below.
