About this resource

These resources will enable front-line service providers to improve services for clients who may need accommodations due to a disability or sensory impairment and provides a directory of sign language interpretation services, deafblind interveners and other communication supports including information about accessible formats and technologies and  accessibility consulting and training services.

Provides communication support for people with aphasia. 

Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada (AVLIC)

The only certifying body for ASL Interpreters in Canada. OASLI is an affiliate chapter of AVLIC and provides an online directory of interpreters for ASL, LSQ and Deaf Interpretation. 

Brain Injury Association of Ottawa Valley

Provides “Brain Basics” Training Program for service providers who work with clients who have an acquired brain injury.

Canadian Hearing Society (CHS)

Supports for culturally deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people.

Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) eStore

The CHS eStore can provide an initial assessment, help you select communications devices, set up a digital media captioning service or provide any custom accessibility advice, service or audit, custom fit to organizations or individual needs. 

Canadian Mental Health Association

Integrated community mental health support services for individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with complex needs.  Services include outreach, case management, housing, concurrent disorders treatment program, health promotion, vocational support services.


Offers digital accessibility consulting services, including accessible design, development and programming, and accessible website audits.

CNIB (Eastern Ontario)

Nationwide, community-based, committed to research, public education and vision health for all Canadians.

Fetal Alcohol Resource Program

The Fetal Alcohol Resource Program aims to support the large numbers of people affected by this permanent brain injury. Through education and community leadership development the program draws together resources, skills and knowledge that exists in Ottawa and provides community navigation for individuals affected by FASD and their families.

Immigrant Women’s Services Ottawa

Crisis Intervention and counselling services for culturally diverse women who are victims and survivors of violence. Services to enable immigrants and refugees to integrate into Canadian society. Offers ASL interpretation services free of charge for clients who are victims of domestic violence, sexual violence or human trafficking. Interpretation available.  Serves clients regardless of immigration status in Canada.

Languages of Life Inc.

A non-profit, charitable interpretation and translation agency that offers ASL interpretation services 24/7.

MCIS Language Service

A social service enterprise that offers ASL interpretation services 24/7.

Ontario Association for Sign Language Interpreters

The professional association of ASL interpreters in Ontario publishes the Directory of Interpreters.

Ontario Interpreting Services (Canadian Hearing Society)

ASL and LSQ interpreting services available on site or through video remote interpreting (VRI). Deaf Interpreters are also available. Interpreters are pre-screened, including a skills test.

Service Régional d’Interprétation Visuelle de l’Outaouais (SRIVO)

Offers ASL, LSQ, tactile interpretation, and French oralist interpretation services to residents of the Outaouais.

Offers ASL and DI interpretation services.  All Interpreters AVLIC certified.
